10 Greatest Rock Documentaries Ever Made

6. It Might Get Loud - Page, Edge, White

The fact that most rock documentaries tend to focus on only one band feels like a massive missed opportunity. As much as it might be fun for the old guard of rock to relive their glory days, how does that really effect where we are in this day and age? Well, it seems that It Might Get Loud heard that and vowed to answer that question by putting three technicians in the same room.

Looking at the lives of Jimmy Page, the Edge, and Jack White, this film is an inciteful piece of footage that shows you how each of the artists developed their own distinct style. One minute you'll be listening to Jimmy Page talking about first learning to pick up the guitar, and the next you'll hear Edge deciphering the massive amount of effects going into Where the Streets Have No Name.

It gets even better once everyone is in one room, as they all learn from one another based on their own riffs and their amount of experience in the business. For the uber nerds of any of these artists, it also doesn't get much better than hearing three separate guitar heroes chug away on the likes of Kashmir and Seven Nation Army in one go. The story might not be as linear with this one, but it does make you feel like you're sitting in on one of the greatest jam sessions of the modern age.
