10 Greatest Sequels Of All Time

7. Terminator 2: Judgment Day

55-10898-terminator2_600 Terminator 2: Judgment Day is intrinsically a different movie to its predecessor. The first Terminator was a blunt, forceful movie with an overwhelming intensity, the sequel however, again directed by James Cameron, switches up and is pure blockbuster action. Cameron performs a similar trick with Aliens (more on that later), with similar explosive results. Cameron in the sequel creates something entirely different, firstly by making the bad guy from the first movie the good guy in the sequel you create an entirely new monster, and retaining Arnie saves you from Terminator: Salvation-esque disasters. Even though the film is now over 20 years old, the special effects and elaborate set-pieces stand up today, great testament to Cameron's technical ability. Most of the time, the idea of turning the hero into the villain would be met with loud groans, but here, it works perfectly as Robert Patrick is suitably evil as the antagonist. Terminator 2 is loud and staggeringly violent and still one of the most popular films of all time.
