10 Greatest Songs Written For Movies

2. All the Stars - Kendrick Lamar (Black Panther)

As of late, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had pretty creative uses of their musical accompaniment. While the main themes of movies like the Avengers and Infinity War have become classics unto themselves, some movies like the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise have taken on the mantle of having stellar pop rock over fight scenes.

Even though the allure of fighting aliens to "Mr. Blue Sky" is entertaining, the interesting cuts didn't come until we reached Black Panther.

Instead of culling together a bunch of random pop stars to provide background music, the entire soundtrack was in the hands of Kendrick Lamar, who brought together everyone from James Blake to SZA to help him fill out the track listing. Keep in mind that this was Kendrick shortly after the production of his 2017 opus Damn, which showed him already in a place for taking on more aggressive song structures on "DNA" and "Humble."

Most of the soundtrack has some great tunes, but "All the Stars" is one of the most welcoming songs of the bunch, with the soothing vocals from SZA providing a perfect counter to Kendrick's flow. Black Panther was already an example of the MCU in their prime, so it was only fitting that they got one of the greatest voices in modern music to add his own magic to the project.
