10. Half Baked

Here's a stoner film that indulges in just about every stoner stereotype known to man, yet is somehow absolutely hilarious, largely thanks to Dave Chapelle's performance in the lead role, which helped propel him to fame. The film also permeated into the weed culture lexicon with its classic quote "I wanna talk to Samson!", which has now become a slang term for getting high.

The plot is absolutely ludicrous; it revolves around Thurgood (Chappelle) and his pals Brian (Jim Breuer) and Scarface (Guillermo Diaz) selling weed they stole to get their friend Kenny (Harland Williams) out of jail after he killed a horse by overdosing it on junk food. Things get dangerous for the gang when a local drug lord, angry that his business is being encroached upon, comes a-knocking.

The reason this doesn't rank lower down the list is because the ending has Thurgood actually give up weed for his girlfriend (hilariously named Mary Jane), and apparently this was on the insistence of the studio. Still, props to the cameos from famous stoners like Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson and Tommy Chong.
