9. Harold And Kumar

This stoner comedy is easily one of the best recent efforts, and became so popular that it spawned two sequels, the latter of which was even released in hilarious stoner-fied 3D. The premise, as the title suggest, is about two stoners, Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) who get high and decide they want some food from the American White Castle burger chain.

They start the long drive there, and plenty of crazy antics ensue, including a horny hick and his hot wife, a cheetah ride, racist cops, and impromptu surgery in order to acquire medical marijuana. The film is absolutely bonkers and completely typifies everything that a stoner movie should be; it's lewd, crazy, and uproariously funny.

One of the definite high-points (pun intended) is a cameo from Neil Patrick Harris, who became a staple in the series, and it can be argued that his appearance helped propel him back to fame, as not long after the film's release, Harris landed the iconic role of Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother.
