10 Greatest Superhero Movie Endings Of All Time
6. X-Men: Days Of Future Past
X-Men: Days of Future Past is set in a time where most mutants have been wiped out by robots called Sentinels. With the help of fellow X-Man, Kitty Pryde, Wolverine goes back in time to stop the sequence of events that triggered this apocalyptic future.
Now, adapting the most famous X-Men comic ever was never going to be easy. On top of that, the story had to balance the original cast and the modern cast simultaneously. Although this was a lot to juggle, it paid off as X-Men: DOFP is often considered the best film in the series. It was heartfelt, creative, had a stellar cast, and some of the best action sequences in the last decade.
And to top it all off, the film did something that was considered inconceivable; it fixed the original X-Men timeline. X-Men: The Last Stand was criticised for gratuitously killing off characters, weak writing, and Juggernaut.... well, just Juggernaut in general.
It ended the original trilogy so badly, the producers had to reset the entire series. When Wolverine returns to his future timeline in X-Men: DOFP, we see that everyone who died in X-Men: The Last Stand is now alive, meaning the events in that film never happened.
