2. Chancellor Sutler's Secret Drug Use - V For Vendetta
V for Vendetta's primary antagonist is High Chancellor Adam Sutler (John Hurt), who if you're really paying attention you might've noticed frequently has dilated pupils throughout the movie.
This might seem like a pretty typical attempt to make Sutler seem "off" to the audience, but there's actually more to it than that.
It's effectively implying that Sutler is abusing drugs, given that there are a bevy of drugs which can cause dilated pupils: ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, meth, ketamine, and mescaline, to name just a few.
The reason for this? It's no secret that the racist, tyrannical Sutler is heavily inspired by Adolf Hitler, who himself became addicted to stimulants during the end of World War II.
This is simply yet another parallel between the two, and knowing that Sutler was high off his ass for basically the entire movie certainly paints him and his actions in a whole other, even more disturbing light.
