10 Greatest Unspoken Movie Plot Points
1. Shaun Becomes A DJ At The End - Shaun Of The Dead
Trust Edgar Wright of all filmmakers to leave a frankly ridiculous amount of character backstory hidden in plain, wordless sight.
His rom-zom-com Shaun of the Dead makes it abundantly clear that protagonist Shaun (Simon Pegg) is a directionless young man, working a listless electronics salesman job and basically eking out a miserable, humdrum existence.
By film's end, though, surviving the zombie apocalypse has woken him up from his unambitious stupor, and he appears to be in a much better place, having gotten back together with Liz (Kate Ashfield) and finally letting her move in.
As the pair relax on their sofa, though, look behind them and you'll see a telling red poster on the wall which advertises an upcoming DJ set by none other than "Shaun Smiley Riley."
Given that we see Shaun and Ed (Nick Frost) messing around with DJ decks earlier in the film, and their flat also has another, older poster for a set by Shaun Smiley Riley, it's pretty clear to assume that Shaun used to be an aspiring DJ.
The new red poster subtly implies that Shaun has once again taken up his passion of DJing, pulling himself out of the depressed funk he found himself in pre-apocalypse.
Now that's some low-key character development alright.
