7. The Elders Will Be Vital To The Plot
Last year, Schmoes Know instigated a rumour that The Elders Of The Universe will play a major role in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. Their report claimed that The Elders would provide “the impetus for Star-Lord to seek out Ego the Living Planet”, sending many film fans down the path of researching this group from the comics.
The Elders, within the pages of the Marvel source material, are a group of supervillains consisted of the last surviving members of a number of ancient races. The Collector was an original member of the team, and Ego was a part of the aged evil cabal as well. They fought the heroes of Earth on numerous occasions.
Writer-director James Gunn was not impressed, taking to Twitter to ask, "Where do you guys get this nonsense? Who are all the people running around giving fake inside scoops to journalists?" That's a fairly firm debunking, so unless Gunn is trying to cover up a genuine leak, it's probably safe to rule this one out.
