5. Um, What About The Debris From The Death Star II? - Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)
Okay, so whilst we're on the subject of debris, let's apply the same logic to one of cinema's best loved gems,
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, a movie with a unquestionably happy ending, what with all those fireworks and that picture-esque Kodak moment that the flick ends upon - all of which takes place after "balance" has been brought to the Force, Han and Leia have shacked up for real, and Lando... um, Lando brought the Millenium Falcon back in once piece. Yay! But think back: the Death Star II just exploded and everybody isn't dead? What gives? And this time, we have actual logic on our side, given that astrophysicist Dr. Curtis Saxton took some time out of his busy schedule as a scientist to analyze the destruction of the Death Star II. His findings? That, Endor, the planet that our heroes and their fluffy companions finish the movie on, would have been obliterated. The shrapnel from the Death Star-sized explosion (larger than a moon, if you'll recall Obi-Wan in
A New Hope) would have wiped out the forest planet entirely. Which is sort of fine with us, if it puts an end to the Ewok race at large.
