10 Harry Potter Book Characters We Wish Were In The Movies
9. Frank And Alice Longbottom
There’s a lot missing from The Order of the Phoenix adaptation, and the hospital section is an obvious example.
During the Christmas holidays, Harry and the gang head off to St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries to visit Mr Weasley in the wake of Nagini’s attack. It’s a charming yet nonessential part of the narrative and Rowling shows off another aspect of her fascinating world.
Towards the end of the visit, Neville shows up with his grandma. He’s embarrassed about the whole situation and we soon learn why. His parents are permanent residents at the hospital as they were tortured into madness by a pack of Death Eaters, including Bellatrix Lestrange.
We get a brief glimpse of Neville’s father, but his mother actually comes forward and approaches the group. She then offers Neville a sweet wrapper before returning to her hospital bed. As bizarre as this moment may seem, it brings Neville’s traumatic past to life in a much more powerful way than the movies ever did.
