10 Harry Potter Book Characters We Wish Were In The Movies
6. Teddy Lupin
Tonks and Remus’s romance is one of the more unexpected aspects of Harry’s sixth year. Shortly after Dumbledore’s death, the two of them reveal their feelings for one another whilst in the Hospital Wing. They then get married (in secret) before the start of the final novel.
Though the relationship is acknowledged in the movies, the detail isn’t there at all – Tonks and Lupin are just miraculously together at the start of The Deathly Hallows. As for their child, Teddy Lupin simply doesn’t exist. Tonks is never shown to be pregnant, and Teddy is nowhere to be seen despite appearing in Rowling’s original epilogue.
This may not seem like a big deal, but Teddy is more significant than you might think. The First Wizarding War ended when a child lost his two parents, and the Second Wizarding War also ends with a child losing their parents.
Teddy’s birth and the death of Lupin and Tonks are a reference to the start of the series when Voldemort attacks Harry and his parents. As such, the final act of the movie, though far from disappointing, lacks that extra kick when it comes to a sense of closure.
