10 Harry Potter Book Characters We Wish Were In The Movies

7. The Examiners

Every Hogwarts student has to take their Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations (OWLs) at the end of their fifth year. It’s a gruelling time for any teenager and some have minor breakdowns because of the pressure.

In the adaptation of The Order of the Phoenix, the OWLs are almost entirely forgotten. Umbridge mentions them during the first lesson and the fifth years do a theoretical Charms paper later on – but that’s it.

In the book, there’s a chunky section centred around Harry's OWLs. The Ministry examiners turn up at the start of the exam season and inject a bit of personality into the proceedings.

Though most of the examiners aren’t named by Rowling, Professor Marchbanks and Professor Tofty make the OWLs much more fun. The latter is particularly charming and is most impressed by Harry’s skills during The Defence Against the Dark Arts practical.

Love to read and write. Have an unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter. Enjoy running up hills.
