10 Harry Potter Plot Points Cut From The Movies That Can Be Used In The TV Reboot
4. Winky
Winky became a big part of the fourth book - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - as she was the slave of Barty Crouch Sr. who became a free elf but who hated free life. Winky was dedicated to her master, as she was a big part of helping the Crouch family when smuggling Barty Crouch Jr. out of Azkaban Prison.
It was Winky's job to keep and eye on Crouch Jr. as they attended the 1994 Quidditch World Cup. However, during the riot instigated by the Death Eaters, Winky was blamed for casting the Dark Mark as she was found with the wand that Barty Jr. used to cast it.
Barty Sr. freed Winky to avoid associating himself with the Dark Mark and Voldemort's followers, and his treatment towards the house-elf led Hermione to create the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare (S.P.E.W).
After being fired, Winky fell into a state of depression and was described as becoming an alcoholic. Although Winky was given a job at Hogwarts by Dumbledore, her attachment and devotion to the Crouch family caused her to have no interest in doing any work that wasn't for her previous masters.
