10 Hated Movie Characters That Were Written Out After Fan Backlash
1. Jar-Jar Binks: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Jar-Jar Binks might be one of the most hated characters in movie history. It is not hard to see why. The prequels as a whole are looked down upon with Phantom Menace being near the bottom on most lists of the best Star Wars films. Jar-Jar was a big part of this. Beyond the not-so-subtle racism of the planet native being dumb and worshipping the technologically advanced visitors, Jar-Jar Binks was just plain annoying.
With his irritating way of speaking and his tendency to get himself into scrapes out of pure stupidity, Jar-Jar was clearly put in as an ill-planned comic relief that did nothing to help the movie and symbolised a lot of the problems with not just the Phantom Menace, but with the prequel movies as a whole.
He makes brief appearances in both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, but his role is greatly reduced, not even having any dialogue in Revenge of the Sith. There was a fan theory that he was the real villain of the trilogy, but it never came to fruition, Jar-Jar clearly being incapable of high enough thought to be a supervillain.
He remains one of the most irritating characters, not just in Star Wars, but in all of film.
