10 Heroes We Need To See In The DC Cinematic Universe

5. The Demon, Etrigan

Names/Alias: Jason Blood First Appearance: The Demon #1 (1972) Powers and Abilities: Superhuman strength and regenerative powers. An expertise in occult sorcery, telepathy and mystical foresight. Can also project hellfire. Jason Blood was a knight of the round table in the times of Camelot, but upon his betrayal, he was bound with a horrific demon known simply as Etrigan. The result made him immortal and gave him great power, at the cost of his humanity. Horror is an often neglected facet of comic book history, and as the ages have progressed, comics have become more and more about superheroes and sci-fi as opposed to the monster and horror themes of old. Etrigan is a great character because he embodies that long-forgotten age of comic books. At the same time, he serves as a great contrast to the traditional heroes of now in his physicality, skill set and personality. He's also a character bursting with flavour - as a mystical demon he's highly versed in sorcery and the supernatural, and can also bring some medieval lore to the table, what with his time-hopping origin. Etrigan feels like a quintessential character because he's incredibly distinct, unique and appealing, and his appearance is likely set for a few years time, as Guillermo Del Toro is allegedly directing an adaptation of Justice League Dark.
