10 Heroes We Need To See In The DC Cinematic Universe

4. The Martian Manhunter

Other Names/Alias: J'onn J'onzz/John Jones. First Appearance: Detective Comics #225 (1955) Powers and Abilities: Shapeshifting (Can alter his body to any size/shape/texture or colour), flight, regeneration, can phase through objects, superhuman strength, agility and durability, Martian vision (heat ray), superbreath, telepathy, precognitive abilities. J'onn J'onzz is an extraterrestrial entity hailing from Mars. Over the years, Martian Manhunter has maintained a presence in the Justice League in some form. Unlike other members of the Justice League, Martian Manhunter is fairly unknown in popular culture outside of his tenure with the Justice League, or variants of. Regardless, Manhunter is a must in any adaptation of the JL. He fits the role well as the black sheep of the team and his skill set and abilities make him an overtly interesting character in terms of how he'll look and function visually. Space is an important factor in the DC Comics universe. They've established this huge world of planets, a universe far bigger than Earth, and Superman aside, Manhunter is the perfect emissary or representative of this. He'll also be of interest to audiences who haven't before heard of him, entirely because he looks so darn intriguing and eye-catching. One thing to note is the Justice League version set to appear in the 2016 film seems to be that of the New 52, meaning Manhunter could perhaps not appear, barring a continuity re-jig. Obviously, this would undoubtedly be a mistake.
