10 Heroically-Aligned Actors Who Need To Play Movie Villains
The best thing about being an actor of any calibre is that you're given the opportunity to play a whole host of different characters, all of whom are imbued with their own unique personality traits, motivations and flaws. And though most actors will make a conscious effort to take on a multitude of very different roles over the course of their careers, as to showcase the span of their talents, there are some who have always ended up playing characters perhaps best described as... well, "good guys." So much so, in fact, that it's hard to actually imagine them playing villains. This was once true for Leonardo DiCaprio, anyway, whose filmography was packed to the brim with handsome, likeable protagonists. Then, last year, he signed on to star in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained as evil, racist southern plantation owner Calvin Candie, which marked the first time that this otherwise heroically-aligned actor would play a full-on villain. Seeing this side of DiCaprio was wonderful, of course, because we'd never seen it before. Which got us thinking: which other heroically-aligned actors should take the plunge and pull a DiCaprio? Here's the 10 actors that we came up with. Although most of the actors assembled here have not played iconic or memorable villains, some have, but are at a point in their careers where they're best-associated with playing heroic characters. Time to shake things up, perhaps.
