10 Heroically-Aligned Actors Who Need To Play Movie Villains

3. Will Smith

Will Smith Will Smith has a strange aversion to starring in any movie that might threaten to overhaul his image as a "family friendly entertainer," which is rumoured to be the reason why he turned down the titular role in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. So cast your eyes back across the length of Will Smith's filmography and you'll spot a trend: he either plays wholesome, intelligent likeable types, or goofy, good-hearted, likeable types. Hm. There's no real problem with this, of course, save for the fact that it feels like we've kind of exhausted the possibilities when it comes to those types of Will Smith character - the fact that the guy won't star in anything even vaguely controversial kind of limits what he can do. Given the embarrassment that was After Earth, though, watching Will Smith play a villain (hell, even a "sort of bad guy) would be a genuine treat. Take the plunge, Will. Leave the family stuff to your kid.
