10 Hidden Comedy Horror Movie Gems Of The Last Decade

1. Witching And Bitching (2013)

One Cut Of The Dead
Universal Pictures

If it’s an all-out, gory, madcap horror adventure you’re looking for, then look no further than underseen cult gem Witching And Bitching.

Helmed by cult auteur Alex de la Iglesia, the flick opens with a ludicrously silly robbery sequence in which Jose (Hugo Silva) is berated by his accomplice Antonio (Mario Casas) for using the criminal activity as an excuse to bond with his young son (Gabriel Delgado). Events go south and the group are forced to flee in a taxi. They recruit driver Mannuel (Jaime Ordóñez), whine about their grievances about the women in their lives and make a break for the French border.

But before they can make their grand getaway, they’re captured by a coven of witches who aim to use the child in a nefarious ritual.

Witching And Bitching is briming with cartoony humour that’s at once grotesquely mean-spirited and cartoonishly silly, with a touch of social commentary poking fun at these men’s petty misogyny thrown in for good measure.

It’s a non-stop blast from beginning to end that genre lovers are guaranteed to get a kick out of.
