The Cloverfield franchise has endured for so long because there are still so many mysteries that are yet to be explained, leading to fan theories upon fan theories upon fan theories, keeping these movies in the conversation.

Due to the trilogy being produced by J.J. Abrams - who is infamous for his "mystery box" approach to storytelling - the Cloverfield universe is littered with clues and secrets that lead fans down various rabbit holes, and this tendency to stuff the movies with hidden details is something that spilled over into the marketing for 10 Cloverfield Lane, the second (and best) entry in the series.

A terrific poster for that movie shows a character trapped inside an enormous, rusty old mailbox, with an ominous-looking house in the background. Just to the left of this house - hidden in the grass - you might be able to spot a small robotic head with two glowing eyes, peering straight forward.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
