10 Hidden Gem Vampire Horror Movies

8. Blood Vessel

Kiss of the Damned
Shudder

The most recent film to be featured on this list, Blood Vessel was released to Shudder just last year. While a whole host of Shudder's original content has been hugely praised, this Justin Dix-helmed effort seemed to get a little lost in the shuffle upon its release.

Not only is Blood Vessel a unique beast when it comes to plot, it's also a great vampire movie that deserves to get way more love from the masses. In fact, this is a picture that even a good portion of horror hounds haven't managed to pick up on as of yet.

In terms of the uniqueness of the film, Blood Vessel is set during the days of World War II, with our main protagonists being a ragtag group of survivors stranded at sea. When their lifeboat comes upon an abandoned German ship, what could possibly go wrong?

Of course, it doesn't take long for the realisation to kick in that this vessel is lifeless for a reason, and that realisation is that a gang of vampires are running rampant.

Marking this picture out from many of its peers, it also features vampires who come across as somewhat sympathetic. Sure, they're vampires doing murderous vampire things, but that's not necessarily by choice. Likewise, the actual design of these bloodsuckers is way more impressive than what we've seen in the vast majority of recent vamp pictures.
