The Transfiguration is a vampire-less vampire movie about characters obsessed with vampires.

Here, our leads are a couple of troubled teenagers - Eric Ruffin's Milo and Chloe Levine's Sophie - who find each other in a world where they are so often shunted or bullied. In Milo's case, he is insistent that he's a vampire, to the point that he drinks human blood.

Milo is the one who's always eager to consume more and more knowledge about vampirism, with him adamant that Nosferatu is a truly accurate depiction of what being a vampire is like. For Sophie, she's more of the thought process that Twilight is a genuine portrayal of vampires. Yes, seriously.

A little like Let the Right One In in some regards, The Transfiguration is a slow, delicate tale anchored to two youngsters and two characters who find one another at just the right time. Well, initially, for things eventually become mighty strained between the pair when Sophie discovers details on Milo's, err, "hunting" habits.

While The Transfiguration has so much warmth to it at times, don't be fooled into thinking this is a classic 'happy ever after' tale, for this Michael O'Shea picture veers into some proper grim territory by the time all is said and done.
