10 Hidden Horror Movie Gems From 2020s (So Far)

10. Slaxx

Deadstream Movie
The Horror Collective

From writer/director Elza Kephart, Slaxx is easily the most outright bonkers movie featured on this list.

To sum up this 2021 picture in simple fashion, it's about a pair of murderous jeans.

Padding out that summary, Slaxx focuses on the Canadian Cotton Clothiers store that's on the cusp of launching its new distorting Super Shapers range of jeans. We're introduced to Romaine Denis' Libby, who just so happens to be starting her first day working at this clothing outlet as the dead bodies soon begin to amass.

On the surface, Slaxx is very much a light 'n' brisk comedy-horror, but there is a more serious message to the film as the narrative unravels. On that point, it's revealed that the killer jeans are actually possessed by a 13-year-old child labourer who died in the field used for the materials that make Super Shapers.

So yes, Slaxx is a daft movie about murderous jeans, but there is very much a wider, more serious message about the real-life costs and truths that so often accompany the fashion industry and its constantly changing trends.
