10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of All-Time In China

1. Furious 7 (2015)

Box Office Gross: 2.036 billion yuan It's insane to think that Furious 7 is already the highest-grossing movie of all-time in China; just take a second to comprehend how that has happened, exactly - and at such speed. The movie has done amazingly well all around the world, of course, and Furious 7 currently stands as the fourth-highest-grossing movie of all-time across the globe. But how did a franchise built around a certain kind of car-based Americanness manage to succeed overseas to such an extent that it has already outranked the likes of Titanic, Avatar, Transformers and China's own cinematic ventures? It can't really be anything to do with the death of Paul Walker, after all, which makes it even more bewildering that it has soared to such heights; Walker was well-known in the Western world, but he's pretty much just another American face in China. What's more, there's little to no pandering to the Chinese market in the movie at all; not a single set-piece set in Shanghai or Beijing - who knew? Any of these surprise you?
