10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of All-Time In China

2. Transformers: Age Of Extinction (2014)

Box Office Gross: 1.977 billion yuan China loved Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, of course, because it's obviously impossible not to appreciate such a well-crafted, articulate and artful movie. But wasn't there something missing? Where were all the references to China, and the Chinese people? Where was the necessary action sequence set in a major Chinese city? Where were all the Chinese characters, Michael Bay? Thankfully, Transformers: Age Of Extinction corrected all the China-based problems inherent to the third movie in the franchise in the fourth instalment. Not only was the movie co-produced by the uncomfortably named "China Movie Channel," it also featured several Chinese and Hong Kong-based actors in secondary roles, and a third act is set in - you guessed it - China. There's arguably more China in Transformers: Age Of Extinction than there are Transformers. Okay, that's not necessarily true, but you get the idea - this was a movie designed with China in mind.
