10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of All-Time In China

9. From Vegas To Macau II (2015)

Box Office Gross: 974 million yuan You don't have to be Chinese to appreciate From Vegas To Macau II. Oh, wait, you probably do, actually - it wasn't given a worldwide release, which means that - as far as Western audiences are concerned - this movie doesn't exist. It doesn't even have any reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, for God's sake - what kind of motion picture is this, China? Did anybody even manage to catch From Vegas To Macau, because this one's a sequel to that flick, apparently? Wait a second: it turns out that From Vegas to Macau II is actually the fifth film in a sprawling franchise about a gambler, played by Chow Yun-fat, who reprises his rather famous role as a character called "Ko Chun" from another movie called God of Gamblers, which was actually quite good? Yes, that Chow Yun-fat, by the way - one of China's biggest film stars. This is a reportedly a comedy film, based around a sort of gambling con, and it - according to US reviews, anyway - wasn't very funny. So, yeah, you probably don't need to seek this one out. It's probably the Chinese equivalent of The Hangover: Part II or something; everybody rushed out to see it, even though it was noticeably terrible in every capacity.
