Box Office Gross: 1.170 billion yuan With its classic comedy plottings ("A former singer and his best friend embarks on a road trip together to deal with the emotional aftermath of a messy divorce"), Breakup Buddies probably would have starred Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis if it had happened to have been made in the United States; it's that kind of wacky, tone deaf, "I wish I'd never bothered" movie. Those two made Due Date in such a vein, of course, and just like that picture, Breakup Buddies is relentlessly irritating for the sum of its parts. Starring superstars Huang Bo and Xu Zheng as the "buddies" of the title, most of this picture consists of ill-judged sequences that beg audiences to ask questions like: "Is this really happening?" and "Who allowed this scene to be filmed?" There are a few genuinely touching moments, but they're not enough to save the movie.
