7. Street Trash (1987)
The owner of an off license in Manhattan finds a crate of old, old wine - Tenafly Viper - in his basement that is 60 years out of date. This doesn't stop him from selling it on the cheap to local drunks. The potent beverage causes the unfortunate hobos to melt. A zealous cop is on the hunt for what is causing these meltings whilst two brothers adjust to life on the street. A crazy Vietnam veteran is the leader of the street folk and has to repel efforts to overcome his tyranny. A much mirth provoking film that contains several awesomely funny scenes. There's the notorious sequence in which a bum gets his privates lopped off and stands helpless while the other bums play 'Catch' with them. The cop beats the crap out of a suspect in the Gents and to add insult to injury, he makes himself vomit all over the poor unfortunate. Added to that are lots of gross deaths via melting and some deliciously quotable dialogue. The film is funny from the opening scenes to the rolling credits. It is a Z Grade piece of disgusting horror which is both deliberately provocative and disgusting. Any criticism that comes to the movie is from people who watch the film unaware of its reputation. But if you are a fan of sleazy, disgusting cinema, you will be in your element here - there are just so many hilariously horrible goings on. Even straight horror fans will have to have a chuckle at some of its scenes.
