Entering as a pair, the hilarious duo of Brennan (Will Ferrell) and Dale (John C. Reilly) from
Step Brothers take the number one spot. Both approaching 40 years of age, Brennan and Dale are inadvertently brought together when their parents become a couple and move in together. At first, the childish duo - both of whom still live with their parents, neither of whom work and both of whom enjoy the kind of pastimes that children enjoy - do not get on. Their childish temperaments mean they argue all the time, become jealous of one another and often resort to petty insults and actions towards each other. That is until they realise just how much they have in common. They become best friends and pursue various 'activities', including martial arts and bunk-bed building. Ultimately, their childish behaviour becomes too much for their parents and they are sent out to get jobs and fend for themselves (initially interviewing as a team with hilarious consequences), and they get their lives sorted out and eventually make their parents proud.
