10 Hilarious Movies Nobody Expected To Laugh At
7. Deep Blue Sea (1999)
The Nineties was a superb era for over-the-top action flicks that threw logic to the wall, kicked it a few times, spit on it, and then drowned its voice out by cranking the Limp Bizkit to eleven. One such work of art is Deep Blue Sea; a film that looked at Jaws and thought, “I could do that with much more edge and angst.”
Deep Blue Sea features Samuel L Jackson (really), LL Cool J and a series of less memorable actors as a group of research scientists tasked with investigating the Aquatica research facility. Here genetically altered sharks have been created and, unsurprisingly, have broken free and started killing people.
Someone thought it was a good idea to test ground-breaking Alzheimer’s medicine on mako sharks as opposed to safer animals such as mice or gerbils. This someone is also supposedly the smartest member of the group. Needless to say, it did not go very well.
Not to necessarily spoil anything, but if you’ve ever wanted to see Samuel L Jackson have one of his many epic speeches interrupted by a shark intent on devouring him, you may be on the right track here…
