10 Hilariously One-Sided Movie Duels

4. Batman Vs Bane (The Dark Knight Rises)

€œYou€™re making a serious mistake.€ €œNot as serious as yours, I fear.€ Few scenes in cinema have made my blood run as cold as when the metal gate slams down behind Batman and his behemoth of an enemy begins sauntering towards him. Led into a trap by Selina Kyle, the shadow of Batman €“ who still carries an 8-year-old knee injury and is completely out of hero-practice having been in self-imposed exile €“ comes face to face with Bane. The masked man whose brilliant strategist mind is only matched by his vicious streak and catastrophic combat prowess. Batman lands a few good shots and tries every trick up his sleeve to gain an advantage over Bane, but the hulking opponent, who has the added advantage of an anaesthetic mask, shrugs off every blow and laughs off Batman€™s misdirection €“ which prior to this encounter had struck fear into the hearts of his opponents. The toughest part of this fight to stomach comes right after Batman accuses Bane of being €œexcommunicated by a gang of psychopaths€. The latter rebukes this by punching Batman in the head until his trademark mask shatters. There is something awful in his eyes right before he launches this barrage which makes you think €œthis is gonna hurt!€ But this is nothing compared to what comes next. Bane lifts Batman (suit and all) into the air and breaks his back over his knee, recreating the iconic scene from the comic books. The fight ends with Batman (Batman!!) lying broken and battered, having barely touched his far superior opposition. It leaves you wondering if Bane can ever be stopped and how Batman will improve enough to do so.
