10 Historical Events That Deserve Movies

3. Aaron Burr

aaron burr Aaron Burr is one of the most fascinating characters in early United States history. After a successful military and political career, Aaron Burr became Thomas Jefferson's vice president in 1800 and was the first person to actively campaign for political office in modern history. Burr's life became much more interesting after he fought a duel with Alexander Hamilton, one of the most influential people in American history, which ended fatally for Hamilton. While the charges against Burr were dropped, the duel effectively ended Burr's political career. Burr later was accused of treason after trying to incite a Mexican revolution against Spain that e though would help him to found his own quasi-country in former Mexican territory. After a much debated trial, Burr was acquitted but he left the United States for Europe anyway where he lived in relative obscurity until his death. Burr's rise to fame and subsequent decline give him a natural character arc and a movie about him would show some of the most interesting periods and people in American history.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
