2. The Hunt For Blackbeard
Arguably the most famous pirate in history and the basis for the modern perception of pirates. Edward Teach, better known as "Blackbeard" sailed a captured French vessel that he renamed the Queen Anne's Revenge which he used in his much discussed exploits. Blackbeard organized an alliance of pirate vessels that he used to successfully ransom the town of Charlestown, South Carolina and he became legendary for reportedly lighting fuses under his hat to add to his already intimidating persona. Blackbeard eventually ran afoul of the authorities who hired a search party to hunt down and kill him, which they successfully did after a lengthy hunt. A film depicting the exploits of Blackbeard and his last stand would have the choice to portray him as the romanticized pirate in the vein of Pirates of the Caribbean or go for a more realistic approach. Either way, there are few historic figures who would work so well in a movie as would Blackbeard.
