1. Native American Ethnic Cleansing - Trail Of Tears (1830s)
Similar to Tarantino's last feature Django Unchained, this part of American history has the kind of controversial and sensitive nature that sparks important debates. During the 1800s white Americans were conducting ugly business with people they deemed to be of inferior races, enslaving African-Americans and ethnically cleansing Native Americans. While the former has been enjoying a lot of the limelight recently, thanks to Tarantino's Django and Steve McQueen's Oscar-winning 12 Years A Slave, the latter is overdue for some proper cinematic representation. The Trail Of Tears is the name given to the forced relocation of the so called "Five Civilized Tribes" - Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek and Seminole - during which thousands were starved, exposed to disease and maltreated by white settlers. Since Tarantino has some Cherokee in his own blood, and the setting would keep him firmly lodged in the western genre, a fantasy revenge tale where the heroes are Native Americans deserves to take the number one spot on this list. A potential scenario could see five Native Americans, each representing one of the tribes, forming their own group with a mission to avenge their families who suffered during the Trail Of Tears. What do you think about these choices? What other historical scenarios would fit into Tarantino's universe? Let us know!
