10 Historical Revenge Fantasies That Quentin Tarantino Could Tackle Instead Of The Hateful Eight
2. Witchcraft - Salem Witch Trials (1692-1693)
If Tarantino followed his pattern of going back further and further into history, he might as well just rewind the tape to the 17th century. Hearing about women charged with witchcraft in the 1690s was as commonplace as hearing about teacher's strikes today. People living in colonial North America believed in the supernatural to such high degrees that they were convinced Satan was walking about on Earth, spreading his evil through dark magic. The rumours began to spread so much that trials began to be held, at times sentencing people to death - most of whom were women - for being witches. Most popular among these were the Salem Witch Trials conducted in Salem, Massachusetts. Despite getting a lot of attention with movies like The Crucible and Lords of Salem, Quentin Tarantino could mix strong females, sorcery and horror into a delectable tale of 17th century revenge. Mary Walcott has been depicted in history as one of the key witnesses to the Salem Witch Trials. A possible scenario could see her being Tarantino's silent rogue agent who leads a band of real witches on a mission to exact revenge on the magistrates in charge of convicting innocent women to the stake. Like a 17th century Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, but with black magic for weapons. Also, wouldn't Tarantino's recent muse Christoph Waltz fit nicely in 17th century garb?
