10 Hit Movies That Somehow Never Got A Sequel
7. Big Hero 6
Walt Disney Animation have been on quite the winning streak over the last few years from both a critical and commercial standpoint and while they generally don't make sequels to a lot of their movies, the ending of Big Hero 6 seemed to blatantly set up further adventures for the titular team.
Action-packed, vibrant, set in a unique location, full of heart and with a hugely marketable figure in the form of Baymax, an animated superhero franchise is a fresh concept in a world of largely cut-and-paste family fare. Especially given the Marvel connection, which wasn't leaned on too heavily but did go so far as to feature a post-credits cameo from Stan Lee.
After grossing $657.8m at the box office and winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, directors Don Hall and Chris Williams expressed definite interest in making a sequel. Disney instead decided to make the follow-up a television series that brings back the majority of the movie's voice cast, but it still feels as though Big Hero 6 would be better off continuing on the big screen.
