10 Hit Movies That Somehow Never Got A Sequel

4. Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Although it fails to make the most of a strong central premise, Doug Liman's action comedy makes up for what it lacks in writing and character development with sheer old-fashioned star power.

The chemistry between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and the thousands of column inches they generated in tabloid magazines, powered Mr. & Mrs. Smith to $478.2m at the box office to make it the biggest hit of either actor's career at the time.

Standard blockbuster fare, the breezy caper is based almost entirely around the two A-list stars trading barbs, quips and punches in amongst some glossy locations and well-staged action scenes but would have really benefited from injecting a little more of the black comedy that the situation presents into the mix.

Jolie revealed that she and Pitt had looked into the possibility of developing a sequel, but felt that the story was never quite right and given the dissolution of the pair's marriage in 2016 it seems safe to assume that its never going to happen.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
