10 Hit Movies That Somehow Never Got A Sequel

3. The Simpsons Movie

It may have peaked at least fifteen years ago, but The Simpsons will still go down in history as one of the greatest television shows ever created, animated or otherwise. With the series renewed through to its thirtieth season, any talk of a potential sequel to Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie's only big-screen adventure to date has stopped almost entirely.

The main voice cast signed on for the movie as early as 2001, and the script reportedly went through over a hundred rewrites that continued all the way through production until it was finally released in July 2007 and went on to earn $527.9m at the box office, proving that the Simpson family was still a force to be reckoned with in the realms of pop culture.

Ten years later, and with the series still pulling in a decent number of viewers, the creative team have shown little interest in making a follow-up. It seems as if the only way the Simpsons will return to the big screen is if Matt Groening decides to give them one last big send-off when they finally call it a day.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
