When Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared in Welcome To The Jungle (aka The Rundown) ahead of becoming Governor of California, he wasn’t making a cameo, he was passing the torch on to a better, more charismatic actor who thankfully considered himself above making movies like Junior.

In GI Joe: Retaliation, San Andreas and Furious Seven, Dwayne Johnson played roles that, fifteen years earlier, would’ve gone to Arnie – the unfeasibly large action hero whose size intimidates mere mortals, yet who always manages to charm people and earn their trust. Where these guys part company is in their approaches to fighting monsters.

In Maggie, Arnie wrings his hands and frets a lot, whereas Johnson, we know from past experience, ain’t having none of that crap. Doom proved something most viewers had long suspected: when the chili hits the fan, he’ll grab a BFG and attempt to “eliminate the threat.”
