10 Hollywood Myths Everyone Believes

5. The Word "Sex" Can Be Seen In The Lion King

The Lion King Given the rather unfortunate trend for bored animators to slip family-unfriendly in-jokes into children's films, it's no surprise that this one gained a fair degree of traction, even if it's still total bunk. During the above scene in which Simba goes to sleep, the dust cloud on the left purportedly spells out the word "sex", if opportunistic viewers manage to freeze-frame the scene at just the right moment. Once the truth is learned, it is at least easy to see how people drew this conclusion, given that a word was snuck into the dust cloud, but it was "SFX" (tech speak for special effects, of course). Naturally, some poorly-sighted viewers thought that it instead said "sex" (given that in the pre-Internet 1990s especially, SFX was a more industry-centric term), and so the myth was spun. It doesn't help that even though the myth's true nature was revealed years ago, photoshopped images continue to circulate around the web.
