6. Munchkin Suicide On The Set Of The Wizard Of Oz
One of the oldest and most widely-spread rumours in Hollywood is that one of the munchkin actors committed suicide on the set of The Wizard of Oz, and even more disturbingly, his hanging corpse remained in the final cut of the film, unnoticed by the entire production team, including editors, set designers and even the director himself. This one gained so much traction that curious back stories were even concocted to support it, such as suggesting that the actor killed himself out of frustration at being typecast in dwarf-only roles, or that a munchkin actress on the film broke up with him. Of course, the truth is that the figure in the background - visible above - was in fact an exotic bird flown to the set to make Oz appear more wondrous. Still, it seems that the morbidly-inclined prefer to believe the myth.
