10 Hollywood Remakes Of Foreign Language Movies That Actually Didn't Suck

5. The Magnificent Seven

Considering its pivotal role in the American Western genre, it's easy to forget that The Magnificent Seven is a remake of Seven Samurai, an equally culturally significant piece of Japanese cinema.

The 1960 version is incredibly iconic and successful, being part of the National Film Registry for special cultural preservation. With all this in mind, it's hard to believe the film was a box office failure in the US at the time of its release. It found its audience eventually though, and today stands as one of the most culturally significant American films of all time.

The 2016 version of the 1960 remake wasn't too bad either, though has had far less impact than its original namesake.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
