10 Hollywood Remakes Of Foreign Language Movies That Actually Didn't Suck

3. The Kindergarten Teacher

The Departed Infernal Affairs
Netflix

This small 2018 drama received fairly limited publicity following its acquisition by Netflix in North America (as is often the way with that streaming service).

A remake of a 2014 Israeli film, the film follows Maggie Gyllenhaal as the titular Kindergarten teacher who nurtures the special genius of one of her students. It competed at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Best Director award for Sara Colangelo, and was also screened at Toronto before being quietly released in October 2018.

The film received a very small early 2019 UK release, so this is one to look out for on streaming and VoD. It currently sits at 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
