3. Jimmy Stewart
From the start of Stewart's film career in 1935, through his last theatrical project in 1991, he appeared in more than 90 films. The guy is a legend in the business, as well as a hero in other areas. Stewart came from a long line of military in his family so it was not unexpected that, when another war came, he was eager to serve. The actor chose to become a military flier. During World War II the actor participated in several bombings that resulted in the deaths of enemy soldiers and civilians. Stewart received an Air Force Distinguished Service Medal as well a whole bunch of other military and civilian medals for his services. After the war, Stewart took time off to reassess his career but would of course return to Hollywood to make a string of classics including; Rear Window (1954), Vertigo (1958) and endless others.
