10 Hollywood Stars That Let Instant Success Go To Their Heads

8. The Wachowskis

Early Success: Garnering praise for their debut directorial feature Bound in 1996, Lana and Andy Wachowski would achieve meteoric success with their second film, The Matrix, in 1999. Almost immediately revered as one of the finest movies of all time, the film marked an enormous leap forward in CGI, but also added truly original storytelling to the mix in what has to be one of the most successful action/sci-fi movies ever made. At this stage the world waited with high expectations for the Wachowskis' next move. What Happened Next? Pretentious sequels. Rather than making a couple of enjoyable follow ups to The Matrix, a film that combined an intriguing concept with expert fight scenes and CGI, they chose to re-create a half-baked philosophy paper on screen. The duo definitely got the idea they were more than film makers and had something important to say. While ambition isn't a bad thing, it's important not to believe your own hype too much, and that's exactly what the Wachowskis have been doing for 15 years now. Jupiter Ascending, released earlier this year, confirmed that they're more interested in churning out philosophical nonsense than entertaining their audience.
