6. Pet Semetary (Mary Lambert 1989)
The Creed family move into their new house in a small Maine town. The property is beautiful except the busy highway that runs in front of their house. Because of the amount of traffic that led to so many of their pets being killed, the children of the neighbourhood constructed a Pet Cemetery behind the Creeds house. However, beyond the pet cemetery is a Micmac Indian burial ground which allows the dead to be raised, however they never return like they were. Based on the Stephen King novel, this movie focuses more on the emotional side of the zombie movie. In the movie, it is as if the resurrection has caused an infection of evil on the people. It is also about the grieving process and about how holding on and not letting go, can lead to danger. This movie also has a bit more emotional gravity because of who is killed and turned into zombies.
