Scary Movie, "comedy" directing duo Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer decided that they were going to spend the rest of their lives making that movie over and over again, but with numbers after it. Occasionally they'd swap genres or spoof other movie types, but the core idea remained: "rip ourselves off forever. Endlessly." And that's exactly what they've spent the last decade doing. Just that. Vampires Suck? Why won't you let me finish? (and yes). Alas, there is no movie that Friedberg and Seltzer won't "spoof," because that's what happens when you pigeon hole yourself so badly that nobody will let you do anything else. So now we're on, like,
Scary Movie 5, and there's no doubt that we'll get a
Scary Movie 6 next year. But let me ask you to do one simple thing. Now that you've made it to this sentence, and you're feeling drained and nauseous, I'm going to make a simple request: never, ever go and see another Jason Friedberg/Aaron Seltzer movie. We can stop them. For real. It just takes courage.
