10 Horror Characters That Appeared Outside Their Own Movies
6. Freddy Krueger - The Goldbergs
The Goldbergs is a pretty successful sitcom that launched in 2013. Based loosely on its creator's own childhood, the series follows the eponymous family as they attempt to deal with life in the 1980s.
Being set in the 80s, The Goldbergs is prime material for pop culture crossovers, including this episode from season 6.
Entitled Mister Knifey Hands (subtle), this instalment of the show sees mother Beverly deal with the fallout of her youngest son being shown the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie.
This leads to a dream sequence in which Beverly encounters the movie's villain (and this episode's sort of title character) Freddy Krueger.
And this isn't some cheap imitator - it's actually OG Krueger actor Robert Englund in full make-up and everything.
He doesn't half-ass it, delivering some really funny lines as the pair talk about Bev's parenting struggles. There's a bit where Freddy talks about his "fathers", which is actually pretty disturbing if you know the context.
The Goldbergs showed a lot of respect for the Nightmare franchise with this cameo, offering up a delightful treat for any horrorhounds who may have tuned in.
