10 Horror Characters That Appeared Outside Their Own Movies

7. Chestburster - Spaceballs

Mel Brooks has taken on everyone in his long and varied life and, in 1987, he went after Star Wars and the genre of sci-fi as a whole.

Spaceballs skewered the space opera template with standout performances from the likes of John Candy in a giant dog suit and Rick Moranis as the most ridiculous version of Darth Vader you will ever see.

In one scene in the movie, heroes Lone Starr and Barf (don't ask) turn up at a space diner to get some grub. Everything seems to be going swimmingly, until some commotion begins at a nearby table.

One of the customers starts to feel unwell and, whilst lying on his back, a Chestburster erupts from his torso! Then, because this is a Mel Brooks movie, it starts singing Hello! Ma Baby in the style of that frog from Looney Tunes.

Whilst the creature isn't 100% the same as the one from the original Alien film, there are enough similarities for it to count.

Also, they managed to actually get John Hurt to sort of reprise his role as Kane for this scene.

Is there nothing Brooks can't do?
